Blue Mountains Axe Thrower

Blue Mountains Axe Throwers are a similar unit to the Blue Mountains Warriors, but carry small throwing axes instead of the usual melee weapons. They are short and small like other dwarves but not to be underestimated.

Spawning

Axe Throwers can only be found in the Blue Mountains and its sub-biome, the Blue Mountains foothills. They can regularily be found in Blue Mountains Strongholds.

Behavior

Like most NPCs, Blue Mountains Axe Throwers will wander about aimlessly among their fellow dwarves until they spot an enemy. Once they do, they begin hurling their small axes at them.

Equipment

Axe Throwers use the same Blue Dwarven armour as warriors and archers do, giving the wearer 17 points of armour. They carry a singular Blue Dwarven throwing axe in their hand, and can throw an infinite amount of them. They can on occasion spawn without helmets, lowering their armour points.

Hiring

Axe Throwers can be hired from Blue Mountains Commanders for 50 coins. Your alignment must be >=300 with the Blue Mountains.

Strategy

When fighting Axe Throwers or any other ranged enemy, a shield is extremely useful to block projectiles.
Try and get close enough for them to immediately switch to their melee weapon, which toggles on at shorter range. If you are at the right distance, they can't damage you with it.
If you are fighting larger numbers, try to draw them towards you one by one, as a large group can overwhelm you with hits very quickly.

Lore

The Blue Mountains Axe Throwers are elite units of the armies of the Blue Mountains, who have settled down within them and rarely come out.
